Bacterial Dessert?

A bacteria known as listeria may have been present in more than 450 Meals on Wheels client meals.

The bacteria was found in date pudding and custard dessert which came from the company’s factory in Kent Town earlier this month.

Each patient who may have consumed the affected dessert has been notified in writing, but as of yet there have been no reports of illness resulting from the infected batch.

However, while symptoms usually arise after 3 weeks, in some instances it can be up to 70 days, which is why the patient’s have been put on alert.

Symptoms are known to be worse in immuno-comprised individuals and the elderly; majority of which are Meals and Wheels clients.
