Coonawarra will again celebrate all that is wonderful about its iconic Cabernet Sauvignon wines during the annual Coonwarra Cabernet Celebrations (CCC) from October 15-18, 2015. This year the CCC has been inspired by the success of last year’s event, and extended to a four-day Coonawarra experience with a whopping 36 events to choose from this year.
‘I don’t think we’ve ever had a Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations program quite as large as the one on offer this year, but it’s one we hope will really excite and entice lots of locals and visitors to join us’, said Cathy Hughes – Wine Industry Officer for the Coonawarra Grape and Wine Incorporated.
The celebrations will focus on an engaging mix of great regional food, fun live music options, and once in a life time wine experiences for visitors to indulge in, including a very special Cabernet Masterclass, a Retrospective Tasting, and the second triennial Australian Cabernet Symposium.
Ms Hughes said this year’s theme was not only about celebrating the region’s signature wine, but also about providing educational experiences for those keen to learn more about what goes into making and marketing Cabernet Sauvignon wines.
‘This year we are staging the second triennial Australian Cabernet Symposium; a one day event that will appeal to both viticulturist and winemakers as well as the general public who are seriously interested in acquiring a broader appreciation about cabernet wines.’
‘Then there is the Cabernet Masterclass that will pit six of Coonawarra’s wines against four esteemed French and Californian wines, to see which region produces the holy grail of Cabernet wines; a wine with balance and harmony of fruit, alcohol, tannin and acid’, said Ms Hughes.
