We really enjoyed sampling a few brews and would like to share our thoughts on the few we did try.
Smoke Stack Rauchbier: As you would expect the beer has a full bodied smokey taste, it’s not overpowering but it’s defiantly there. Would go get with a BBQ.
Harvest Moon Organic Beer: I could taste the aroma of fruit and spices with a peppery aftertaste. It had a bit of bitterness to it to, quite an unusual beer worth trying if you would like to experience an organic beer.
Cabin Boy Halfwit: Funny name, quite a pleasant drink an great everyday beer, not bitter. As a fan of wheat beers I give this wheat beer very high ratings. It was very smooth, light and a little spicy. I would have to say it was one of the beast wheat beers I have ever tasted.
Trade Winds IPA: Lovely English Pale Ale. A Full malty beer with a pleasant bitterness my wife’s favourite beers sampled.
Fish Tale Pilsner: A crisp refreshing beer with a medium smokey after taste. It had a bitterness to it but it was very mild.
Humpback Pale Ale: A hoppy tasting beer, smooth, velvety and a little bitter.
Overall we enjoyed all the beers offered to us by the Gulf Brewery. We enjoyed the smokey undertones which were noticed in each of the beers. We highly recommended dropping into the Gulf Brewery in Hahndorf it was a great experience and we will defiantly be returning in the future.
The cellar door is at 1/13-15 Main St, Hahndorf between the IGA and Otto’s bakery. We are open every day between 11am and 5pm
