Kodomo no Hi Japan Festival 2016

The Japan Australia Friendship Association’s Kodomo No Hi Japan Festival is the biggest Japan festival in Adelaide with a 21 year history. The day will be filled with Japan-related performances, exhibitions, activities, food and stalls.

Attractions at the festival included performances of Japanese songs, musical instruments and drumming; displays/opportunities to participate in Japanese activities like calligraphy, Ikebana (Japanese Flower Arrangement), Tea Ceremony and Kimono Wearing.

Kodomo no Hi, also known as Children’s day, is a festival held in Japan dedicated to celebrating the happiness of children and their gratitude towards their mothers. A fun fact is that the festival was originally for boys before being changed to include both genders.
